    "Yajiro-kei Kokeshi dolls" are made mainly in the village of Yajiro in Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture.
    The distinctive features of the Yajiro-kei Kokeshi dolls are the large head with a colorful "rokuro" pattern that looks like a beret, and the body with many rokuro patterns.
    The head is large compared to the body, and the forehead is decorated with a half-moon shape, creating a lovely atmosphere.
    The body is decorated with wide rokuro lines, collar and sleeve patterns, flowers and insects.  The contrast of colors is impressive.
    The charm of Yajiro-kei Kokeshi dolls is said to be the patterns of the richly colored rokuro lines used to make them.
