    Description

    Up for sale is this truly unique, one-of-a-kind, hand-carved statuette of a young African woman on a wood stand.
    This attractive piece has been in our family for over 35 years, having purchased it at an antique fair in Los Altos, California.
    The body is constructed of carved wood with separate arms, which have been permanently attached to the torso.
    The head and neck appear to have been made from some form of plaster or clay and painted black at the hair and dark brown at the face neck and shoulders.
    The woman seems to be naked, except for some form of black boots.
    The legs, arms and torso have been finished with a sort of metallic green paint which somewhat simulates an antique bronze.
    The overall height of the statuette is 14" tall and approximately 5" wide x 2" deep.
    The wooden base - which measures 4-3/4" long x 3-7/8 wide - has been stained a reddish-brown.
