This beautiful and rare Japanese wood sosaku creative kokeshi doll measures 7" high and 8" in circumference around her head.  She was designed by a famous and most respected kokeshi doll artist - Jiro Tsuda - who has won numerous top awards in Japan for his beautiful kokeshi doll creations.  This kokeshi represents a member of the royal family during the Heian era in Japan which spans the years of 795 through 1185.  Her very high and square eyebrows are indicative of this time period.
This kokeshi doll's gorgeous kimono is decorated with yellow, pink and red daisy-like flowers with yellow centers and green leaves.  She's also wearing a red and gold obi.  Her soft, feminine facial features are just exquisite with pale pink cheeks and heart-shaped lips, framed by her hair and topknot.  The artist's red stamp/chop is on the bottom.  Please see below for flaws.
This pretty kokeshi doll is in excellent vintage condition - hard to find many flaws - and she would make a great addition to your growing collection.  White areas are camera glare.
