    Go ahead… don’t check your tire pressures. That way, there’s a good chance one day soon you’ll be needing a pair of these.
    Yak 50 & 52 main wheels use this locking half ring design that has historical roots back to WWII aircraft such as the PBY Catalina.
    The assembly of the hub and outer rings rely on the outward pressure exerted by the inner tube.
    These half rings, (which provide a lock against axial movement), can only be inserted to a deflated wheel assembly.
    Not just missing Tire pressures off the daily inspection can get you into trouble, winter temperatures can do it for you too.
    A local 52 pilot overlooked checking his tire pressure one winter morning recently, out here in SoCal. Takeoff & the flight were uneventful, but upon landing, a sporty exit off the active onto the high speed taxiway was enough to side load his soggy tires, and one of the mains separated. Tire & outer ring went separate ways with the inner hub contacting the tarmac.
    A set of two half rings are in the kit, enough for one Main wheel.
    (The Yak 52 nose wheel uses a different system to secure the assembly)
