Cylinder Base Tab Washers 2.0
We used to plate these with Gold Zinc when we made them from Low Carbon steel.
Mechanics told us they wanted to feel more feedback as the final torque value was reached, giving them confidence that the cylinder base joint will remain tight.
In other words, the material was too soft.
Now we make them out of Normalized Chromoly- not for strength, but for hardness - and so that you can tell them apart, these second generation ones are black- with an iron phosphate coating.
The gold ones are fine for lower compression Houssai engines.
Will you be able to make that nice crisp bend in the tab AND reuse these black ones ? Probably not - but is re-using Tab washers on a high performance aero-engine something we should be striving for?

Why is torque-ing cylinder base nuts even important?
Ten years ago, Red Alert magazine published a conversation that Vladimir Yestremski documented in 2007 with Vedeneyev Design Buro’s Michael Kovalev.
Apart from a lot of other great M14-P tech info, Kovalev stressed that “the weakest point of (the M14-P) engine is the cylinder base studs, which have a safety factor of less than 1.5.”
Decoded: those studs may be stretching over their lifetime.

Termikas recommends 304-330 inch lbs of torque for the cylinder base nuts.
If you see anything other than a dry joint at the base of the M14-P cylinder, the studs may need retorquing.
This kit contains 3 flat tab washers and one bent one that stabilizes the air start valve line - enough for one cylinder.
